The Charlotte Observer reports that Lake Rhodhiss yeield a surprise for fisherman Fred Sanders and his fishing companions: stepson, Steven Kincaid of Lenoir, and Gary Lail of Valdese.

They hooked a muskellunge.

More associated with Canada than North Carolina, muskie can be found in water bodies in Western North Carolina. They were native to the French Broad River before dying out in the 1940s and 1950s from pollution.
