South Mountains State Park

An article in the Charlotte Observer notes that South Mountains State Park is dotted with family gravesites, including those of Lails.

I guess that figures since the state park (which I had never heard of) is in Burke County, N.C.

The Observer article said:

Along the main road into the park once existed a complex of log cabins and small barns called the James York Place. The Old York Family Cemetery at Red Hill is near the park's equestrian facilities.
At least 28 graves are identified by headstones and footstones, but only three have legible inscriptions: John L., Diona and M.E. Cook. Records show that this cemetery also contains members of the Hudson, Lail, Cook and Chapman families.

The park is some 18 miles south of Morganton and lists Connelly Springs as its mailing address. More on the park here.
