Catching up with Titus Lail

The Cincinnati Enquirier recently revisited Titus Lail of Brooksville, Ky., who the newspaper had featured 14 months ago on the dangers of obesity among the young.

He had weighed 338 pounds and had been on two kinds of blood pressure medication since he was 9.

In late 2004, he had gastric bypass surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Today, Titus Lail has lost 105 pounds and is no longer taking blood pressure medication.

"For the most part, my dreams have come true," he said. "I just wanted to get skinny and be healthy, to be able to get around like normal people do. One of my teachers sometimes asks me if I'd do it all again, and I always answer yes."

Titus is my little cousin, and is one of the strongest people I have ever met. He tells me all the time I am like his hero but when it really comes down to it he is mine. He is funny and smart and extremely upbeat whenever I see him despite his illness. I just wanted to let everyone know this is a great kid and one of my favorite people. He is finally getting better and if everyone can please say a prayer for him to stay healthy. I as well as Titus I'm sure would greatly appreciate it.
