Centenary College of Louisiana (Shreeveport) softball coach Mark Montgomery is excited about high school signee Ashley Lail of Fort Worth, Texas. Lail pitched 17 shutouts and compiled a 0.24 ERA last season.

Here's what he said in November:

"We feel Ashley is an outstanding pitcher who not only changes speeds very well, but has exceptional movement on all of her pitches. Ashley also plays outfield and hits extremely well. Look for her to be an immediate contributor in 2006."

The Centenary Ladies were knocked out of the NCAA tournament and Montgomery is looking to his returning players and immediate contributors like Lail to help the team make a bigger splash in the NCAA tournament next year.
