MACON, GA (August 13, 2007) - A Gwinnett County dentist who owns 360 acres of forestland in rural Hancock County has received the 2007 Certified Forest Stewardship Landowner Award. Slade Lail, of Duluth, was honored with the commendation by the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) at a banquet culminating the recent GROWS (Georgia Recognizes Our Woodland Stewards) Conference at Callaway Gardens.
I think this woman's first name is Lail, but they're doing some interesting Christian mission work so check out their blog.
JUNEAU - Randy Lail hit a hole-in-one during the Sunday best-ball tournament at Mendenhall Golf Course.
Lail aced the fifth hole with a seven iron from 125 yards away.
It was the fourth hole-in-one at Mendenhall Golf Course this season.
Patrick Lail, an attorney, is getting in the public eye in Georgia and nationally among veteran and military service sites over a suit filed by a fired police officer against the city of Holly Springs, Ga.
Patrick Lail represents the city in the federal lawsuit filed in early June by Michael Wells, who contends he was fired from his job because of the time he took off from work to serve in the Georgia Army National Guard.

Lincolnton High School senior Katie Lail was at some debutante cotillion
"Fly ball," the coaches told Indian Land native Harley Lail in the dugout. "All you need to do to win this game is get the ball in the air and deep."
Instead Lail's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 12th won the game (4-3) for the University of South Carolina baseball team in their SEC tournament opener against Florida in Hoover, Ala.
Lail found out he would start during batting practice before the game Thursday.

Discovered a new band with a Lail.
Bob Lukomski (vocals), Haji Majer (on guitar, iPod and processing) and Thomas Lail (prepared guitar, processing) have done an album-length experimental instrumental piece, "In the Motherheart of God the Father," on the Homestijl Composition label. The trio -- known as Lukomski/Majer/Lail -- will be making a rare live performance at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Saratoga Arts Center in Albany, N.Y..
Lukomski describes the live show as "music that flirts with the abyss of chaos."

A Wall Street Journal article about people's names and Google has been creating a lot of buzz this week among the blogger crowd.
For Lails, there's good news. The name's pretty rare -- and that's good on Google's home page. Enter "John Lail," for instance, in Google with the quotes and it comes up with 84 results (as least it did tonight). Enter "John Smith" and you get 2.74 million results; without the quotes, you get 458 million results. That'd take awhile to pore through.
As Anne Zelenka says: "No, these days, you’d do well to have an unusual name that will not leave you buried by more famous people in Google searches. .... Parents even resort to checking Google before naming their children, hoping to give their offspring a leg up in the online market of professional repute."
It used to be that if you entered Lail in Google, the first result was always actress Leah Lail (whatever happened to her, anyway), but alas, she's been dethroned by a vineyard. Tony Lail Vineyards is No. 1.
The Zelenka piece as well as one from Scott Karp suggest some ways to move your name up Google's search results. But seriously, if your name is Lail and someone enters your name in Google, you'll likely be on the first page of results.
Maybe all those mispronunciations are worth it, aren't they. Mr. Lyle!
