Behind the scenes, but not unnoticed

Bet you didn't know ...

Andrew Carter, son of Becky Lail Carter and grandson of Clyde Lail is the Pit Crew Coach for Roush Fenway Racing Sprint/Nextel Cup Teams.

He is responsible for recruiting and coaching the pit crew members of the Roush Fenway Cup teams. He is also responsible for the Busch and Truck series pit crew programs.

Andrew works on a daily basis with the crew chiefs and general managers. He answers to Jack Roush personally when he has a question.  He also  works in developing new pit crew members when time permits. The drivers are #99 Carl Edwards, #17 Matt Kenseth, #16 Greg Biffle, #26 Jamie McMurray, and #6 David Ragan.  His main focus is the #99, #17, and #26 crews and/or backup squad.

Andrew says "Our crews can win or lose a race in the pits. It is easier to pass cars sitting still than it is on the race track.  With the COT coming into play, the crews are more important than ever because the cars are all equal. It comes down to the driver and crew."
